Mohala and her daughter Asia built Ānuenue.
Born and raised in Hilo. Before this lounge on Kamehameha Avenue, they ran Mo’s Fish and Chips. Ānuenue means rainbow, and there is one painted on the wall.
From Mo’s Fish and Chips to the bay.
Mo’s Fish and Chips was a small spot that turned into the place the neighborhood kept coming back to. Mohala and Asia noticed. People did not just want food. They wanted somewhere to sit together.
Ānuenue is their thank you to the town that showed up for them. A room with velvet chairs, a bookcase, and Ka‘ū coffee, open to anyone who walks in. Locals on a lunch break, families with little ones, visitors passing through. Everyone gets a seat.
